1.) Root your phone, (quella di Androidiani:

2.) Download the latest version of the ROM on the first page.
3.) in USB mode, put the .zip file onto your SD card, depending on the version of recovery mode you have, you may need to rename the .zip file to 'update.zip'
4.) Turn off your HTC Hero and hold down the Home key and press the end call button to boot your phone in recovery mode. If you do not boot in recovery mode your phone is not rooted and you will need to make sure that it is before continuing.
6.) Assuming you have the latest recovery mode, create a nandroid backup of your phone, All of the guides I've seen have a way of doing this from any recovery mode, this should be no different.
7.) Once that is complete, turn on USB mode from recovery mode and copy the folder 'nandroid' to somewhere on your computer for safe keeping.
8.) turn off USB mode by pressing the home button, it will return you to recovery mode's main menu.
9.) Now select Wipe phone to factory default settings, this will remove everything that is on your phone and return it to a clean install.
10.) Assuming you have the latest version of recovery mode, there should be an option to install from .zip Select that in recovery mode and it will bring up a list of all .zip files on your SDcard. If you renamed the file 'update.zip', it will show up in that directory as such.
11.) Select the .zip file and press 'Home' to execute, the phone will do the rest.
12.) After the installation is complete, reboot the phone and follow the instructions on the first page.
