ATTENZIONE:

Se con il siyah si fa un ripristino dati di fabbrica da menù impostazioni il telefono si blocca... Entra solo in download mode... Niente di irreparabile, basta flashare un firmware.

L'altro problema è delle app Samsung: essendo un pacchetto che si estrae ed istalla autonomamente alla prima configurazione, con il siyah se si fa il wipe data si cancellano e per riaverle si deve riistallare la rom.

RICORDATE COMUNQUE CHE CON IL SIYAH NON CI SONO PROBLEMI DI HARDBRICK

Se comunque avete bisogno di fare un ripristino dati di fabbrica o un wipe data ma non volete perdere le samsung apps allora potete mettere un altro kernel (SpeedWizz, Phenomenal, DM Dharam Maniar....) fare le operazioni che volete e poi rimontare il Siyah

ISTALLAZIONE versione .ZIP da CWM:

Inserire lo zip scaricato nella memoria del telefono (insieme allo script cleaner v.2.6.5 che trovate QUI se volete) e mettere il telefono in recovery mode con la sequenza di tasti VOLUME SU + POWER + HOME
Scegliere "install zip from sd"
Se si arriva da altri kernel prima flashare da recovery lo script cleaner v. 2.6.5
Poi flashare la versione del kernel siyah
Riavviare il telefono

ISTALLAZIONE versione .TAR da ODIN (istruzioni prese dalla guida al flash di ANDROMEDA1968:

Mettere il .TAR scaricato nel desktop del pc
Spegnete il vostro SGSII e mettetelo in download mode con i 3 tasti (premendo VOLUME GIU + POWER + HOME)
avrete un messaggio di attenzione "WARNING" premete il tasto volume SU e continuate altrimenti premete il tasto Volume GIU per uscire....
Avviate Odin3 v.1.85
Selezionate il file .TAR del siyah in PDA di Odin
Connettete il cavo USB al SGS II e attendete che ODIN lo legga nei Messaggi....."ID:COM" in GIALLO
Premete START e inizia il FLASH
Non disconnettere il SGSII finchè non si riavvia da solo ed entra di nuovo in funzione

CARATTERISTICHE:

Basato sull’ Update7 ma con commando killer CAP_ERASE disabilitato(No superbrick bug)

I am having some random lockups with some apps
try removing root by using ExTweaks app and reinstall it.

Where can I find ExTweaks? What is it?
It is an app coded by Xan which implements a configuration interface that we have designed. It lets you configure some kernel specific settings easily. It doesn't replace voltagecontrol or setcpu apps. you can still use them. ExTweaks is for kernel-specific parameters, some hotplug thresholds and additional tweaks, and the best thing about it is that you won't have to update it. the required interface is embedded into the kernel and it will introduce you a dynamic interface depending on the kernel you are using. of course, the kernel developer should support it. ExTweaks is completely free and ad-free. You can download it from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...n.extweaks.app

Does this kernel work on XXXXXX-ROM?
If the ROM is based on Samsung Stock ICS Rom LPQ or newer, it should. Otherwise, search the thread... If you cannot find any reference to that ROM, try the kernel. You won't lose anything by trying this kernel. Worst case scenario is to reflash your previous kernel or ROM. You can backup your previous kernel with Hellcat's k-tool from the market.

Where is CM9, MIUI or Samsung ROM versions?
There is only one version. Both ROMs are supported with a single kernel image.

What is the best settings?
It is the one you try yourself and like.

I have just lost 20-30% battery by just rebooting/flashing the kernel. Is it a bug?
No. It happens because of our fuel gauge chip which doesn't require calibration goes crazy sometimes. It is not related with kernel or ROM. Just reset fuel gauge chip using ExTweaks app (or remove the battery and wait 3 minutes) and then charge your phone.

BLN doesn't work.
you need to enable it in extweaks or BLN app. if you have more than one app to configure bln make sure all of them use the same settings.

BLN works in test mode but it doesn't work otherwise.
if test mode works you should blame the apps. Stock messaging and email apps may not support BLN and in some other applications you may need to enable notifications. Either find another application or change your ROM.

Can I use breathing effect without using BLN?
for now, breathing effect only works in BLN. There is no way of using it otherwise.

I need to disable and re-enable BLN in extweaks to get it working again. What is the problem?
You may have another BLN related application (BLNapp, nstools, or a script) which disables BLN after extweaks apply the setting at early boot stage. you have to either uninstall that app or enable BLN in that app as well.

only tested on Samsung JB ROM. Although the kernel boots CM10.1 I will not support it until I fix dualbooting.

thanks to mbwatson@XDA for sending me an international Samsung Galaxy S2. Although the screen is cracked it is perfectly readable and also the touchscreen digitizer is working flawlessly.
based on latest I9100 JB Kernel source
home key is fixed. now it works both in recovery as well as CM10.1 and Samsung ROMs
increased default gpu freqs a little bit. the lowest freq is now 108MHz.

fixed CPU and I/O scheduler changes in STweaks not being applied after reboot.

default governor: ondemand during betas, and reverted back to legacy hotplug method (pm_hotplug, as Samsung has in JB kernels). reapplied tegrak’s secondcore patches to pm_hotplug and also added governor-awareness to pm_hotplug which will prevent having two different hotplug mechainsms running simultaneously

beta2->beta3: video recording is fixed. fixed mdnie negative effect problem. gpu voltage initialization is fixed

beta3->beta4: updated wifi module (should fix random reboots that some people experience which is related with wifi). Experimental exfat support (please test and report if exfat formatted external sdcards can be used). fixed headphone amplification. (thanks to*lyndonguti and THE RED BLUR for testing this beta)

KNOWN PROBLEMS: startup scripts are not executed. reason is unknown until I find another s2 or somebody point out my mistake. side-effects: stweak settings are not applied on boot, headphone amplification doesn’t work and some script-based optimizations are not applied hence the performance is not as high as expected. this may be fixed in beta3, or not. please report if stweaks settings (governor change for example) are applied or not

some users (including me) experienced no problems with new gpu steps whereas some users had kernel panics when the screen is off.

Spulciando nella Rete (Androidiani e XDA)...

Release 4.1.5: La MIGLIORE in assoluto con ogni tipo di ROM, come da commenti su XDA. Provare per credere. In particolare con CM10 non causa nessun tipo di problema: ottimi affidabilità, stabilità e performances, accettabili i consumi: parola di illuminato67 che la utilizza quotidianamente
Release 4.1.4: Tra quelle segnalate sembra essere tra le più affidabili, stabili e performanti. Inoltre sono stati aggiornati i codici Linaro all'ultima versione 4.7. Commento di Gokhan "Consider it as the most stable v4.x release. I have checked almost everything while trying to fix something while that something wasn't a bug at all". Come non essere d'accordo?
Release 4.1.2: molti utenti lamentano kernel panic, SOD, riavvii improvvisi, reboot quando si stacca l'alimentatore, force closed di apk, riavvii frequenti di Apex, malfunzionamenti del modulo wifi e del bluetooth, ecc. Inoltre il nuovo governor LulzactiveQ, implementato dall'utente XDA robertobsc, non è assolutamente ancora ottimizzato, in quanto blocca la CPU a 1200 (ci stanno lavorando...). Questo il commento di Gokhan: "my wife has also reported several SODs this morning and I asked her to select pegasusq. she says everything is fine now. lulzactiveq may need some fixes. unfortunately she has no idea what last_kmsg is but I am sure there will be some people who will post some logs to help roberto on that." Commento personale: menomale che c'è la moglie di Gokhan!
Release 4.1.1: molto stabile, performante ed affidabile.

PegasusQ: un governor rivoluzionario

Visto che da alcuni mesi il creatore del kernel Siyah ha prediletto per le impostazioni standard della sua creazione il governor PegasusQ, vorrei fornire qualche informazione tecnica e dettagliata che possa spiegarne meglio la logica di funzionamento.

Alcune premesse importanti:

Governor che si accosta molto alla logica di funzionamento di Ondemand (fonte XDA)
Governor proposto da Samsung per ottimizzare la gestione dei quadcore come l'S3, ripreso, ottimizzato e adattato da Gokhanmoral alla logica dualcore dell'S2 (fonte XDA)
Permette ai vari core di lavorare a frequenze asincrone. Quindi se il primo core è a 1400, il secondo può essere anche a 800. In pratica consuma meno in quanto negli altri governor, quando si attiva il secondo core, questo viene impostato sempre alla stessa frequenza (a 1200 l'altro core lavora sempre a 1200)
E' il governor che usa il Galaxy S3

Alcuni principi fondamentali da ricordare.

Pegasusq è fondamentalmente un governor di tipo ondemand che controlla anche l'hotplugging.
Run Queue (o coda di esecuzione): Sappiamo che processi mutipli possono essere eseguito uno alla volta sul nostro dispositivo. Questi processi attivi vengono inseriti in una matrice denominata coda di esecuzione insieme ai loro valori di priorità. (Priorità viene utilizzato dal task scheduler per determinare quale processo dovrà essere eseguito). Per garantire che ogni programma abbia una quota equa delle risorse, ciascuno di essi viene eseguito per un certo periodo di tempo (quantum) prima di essere messo in pausa e reinserito nella coda di esecuzione. Quando un programma viene interrotto per lasciare un altro run, il programma con la massima priorità nella coda di esecuzione viene autorizzato ad avviarsi. I processi vengono rimossi dalla coda di esecuzione quando chiedono di dormire, sono in attesa di una risorsa disponibile, o sono stati terminati.
Spostandoci nello specifico alla CPU del nostro S2, ogni core ha una propria coda di esecuzione, che mantiene una lista dei processi sia attivi che terminati. Lo scheduler seleziona il processo successivo dalla lista dei processi attivi con la massima priorità. Quando il periodo di tempo di un processo scade, viene inserito immediatamente nella lista di quelli scaduti. Quando la lista dei processi attivi è terminata, lo scheduler cancella le liste attive e scadute.
Il Governor non scala la CPU, ma imposta il comando per il driver della CPU che andrà ad eseguire.
Lo Smooth Scaling è anche esso eseguito dal driver della CPU, non da governor.
Utilizzando pegasusq si disattiva lo Stand Hotplug in quanto la logica hotpluggging del governor potrebbe creare conflitti.

Note personali:

L'hotplugging consiste nella gestione della logica di funzionamento dei singoli core, consentendo di farli lavorare insieme sincroni (alla stessa frequenza) o asincroni (a frequenze diverse) o singolarmente. Il discorso si fa più interessante quando (come nell'S3) sono 4 i core a lavorare. Nel dual core il discorso è un pò più riduttivo. Nell'opzione "hotplug" è il governor PegasusQ a gestire i core, decidendo di volta in volta, secondo le necessità, quanti core attivare e quali frequenze utilizzare per ognuno di essi.
Smooth scaling level: previene improvviso salto verso le alte frequenze quando ci sono carichi di lavoro elevati della CPU. Funziona solo con pegasusq e ondemand.
Max CPU Lock: Imposta se il governor pegasuq deve controllare lo scalare delle frequenze di un solo core o di entrambi.
Sched_mc: Utile solo per chi usa entrambi i core sempre attivi. Impostando 1 il secondo core si attiverà solo quando il primo arriva al massimo carico. 2 vuol dire che il secondo core si attiverà con mezzo carico di cpu. 0 seguirà le impostazioni di default del governor.

_{Dopo aver flashato il kernel, riavviare e lasciare che Android si aggiorni.}
_{Fatto? Andiamo alla fase successiva. Ma prima controlliamo di avere il terminale carico (90%) e di avere a disposizione almeno 2,5 Giga di spazio libero sulla SD interna (NO SD removibile) per permettere la creazione della cartella nascosta .secondrom che ospiterà la secondary rom.}
_{Scaricare la ROM (in formato .zip) che si vuole rendere secondaria, e collocare il file nella scheda SD interna o esterna.}
_{Successivamente riavviare in Recovery e portarsi su "opzioni dual boot"}
_{Selezionare l'opzione Wipe secondary ROM data/cache. Ciò preparerà il vostro telefono per l'aggiornamento della secondary rom. Ci vogliono circa 5-7 minuti.}

Per chi avesse ancora problemi a mantenere i settaggi del Maestro Illiminato, io ho risolto nel seguente modo.
Da Mobile Odin flashate il Siyah ovviamente in formato .TAR (da Mobile Odin lo script di pulizia non serve)
Dopo riavviate il vostro S2 in recovery e flashate la versione .ZIP del Siyah
Appena finito il flash andate in Advanced, riavviate la recovery e flashate lo zip dei settaggi che vi interessa
Al riavvio controllate in STweaks se i settaggi sono al loro posto
Facendo così a me non li perde più ad ogni riavvio del mio amato S2

Edit: questi sono i settaggi che assicurano un'ottima performance. Sono sicuro che possono ancora essere ritoccati e ottimizzati per ridurre i consumi.
Come ai vecchi tempi desidererei il sostegno e la collaborazione di tutti voi interessati a creare un setting votato al risparmio, ma senza pregiudicare minimamente la velociità e la fluidità del Siyah.
