HTC MAGIC VODAFONE problemi installazione driver e aggiornamento ROM

Salve ragazzi sono nuovo del forum, e vi pongo subitissimo il mio problema,
Circa 3 mesi fa ho acquistato dalla vodafone un HTC Magic. La versione del firmware è la 1.5 e la build CRB17. Non ho ricevuto nessun aggiornamento via OTA dalla vodafone (che ho pure chiamato e mi hanno ripetuto che loro non possono mandarmi niente del genere O_ò?) e ho parlato pure con i tecnici HTC che non hanno saputo risolvere il problema. In sostanza vorrei aggiornare la ROM per poi rootizzarlo.
Per intenderci, ho seguito la guida da questo 3d di vodafonelab GUIDA: aggiornamento Froyo 2.2.1 HTC Magic(Amon_Ra recovery) - Vodafone Lab Forum - Vodafone e sono ad un punto morto, ovvero: ho scaricato tutto il necessario, ho cominciato ad eseguire il tutto seguendo la guida e con l'aiuto di faraja ho scaricato PDAnet for android per i driver. Il punto è che anche se questo programma riconosce il mio htc magic collegato al pc non ci si riesce a connettere, ed ogni volta che stacco e riattacco ricomincia tutto da capo come se non l'avesse mai visto(quindi mi richiede ogni volta di cercare i driver automaticamente o manualmente, ecc...). Ho provato anche ad andare avanti e ad inserire dei comandi sul prompt ma quello che mi ritrovo è questo:

<localdir> can be interpreted in several ways:

- If <directory> is not specified, both /system and /data partitions will be u
pdated.

- If it is "system" or "data", only the corresponding partition
is updated.

environmental variables:
ADB_TRACE - Print debug information. A comma separated list
of the following values
1 or all, adb, sockets, packets, rwx, usb, sync
, sysdeps, transport, jdwp
ANDROID_SERIAL - The serial number to connect to. -s takes prior
ity over this if given.
ANDROID_LOG_TAGS - When used with the logcat option, only these de
bug tags are printed.
