TOPOGIGI 2.0 ....in arrivo... :D
v 2.0 is uploading now. I know that some of you will be disappointed, but it's not based on v20j, al least not entirely. LG decided to change something in the kernel from a while, beginning with v20e. They began changing the way SD cards are mounted to avoid that a damaged card could remain in a not mounted state during reboots. I simply solved that issue reverting to the original Froyo vold.fstab, but now they changed something deeper in the kernel to solve eventual USB issues. The result is that USB has some quirks used in compatibility mode: USB tethering does not work and USB icon disappears from the notification area when the home button is pressed, as some of us had noticed with 1.8/1.9 (v20i based versions). So, if we want v20j, we have to use the original kernel. That means, no OC/UV, ext3 FS, no TUN, no VPN, no CIFS: nothing.
But there is always a third way in the life: do we have a fuctional version without USB modifications? Yes', we've got it and it is v20e. But v20e has its own bugs nevertheless: GPS not workin from scratch, front camera upside down, libsurfaceflinger bugged, etc. etc.
So, I made a work that took me blood, sweat and tears. I extracted from all the available releases we know the best you can find in every of them. So I took the GPS code from v20a, some libraries from v20j, the new Polaris Office from v20j, the new camera and mirror apps from v20j, the updates libsurfaceflinger from v20i, and so on cherry picking here and there.
The result is in v. 2.0 that prolly will be my last release until the official version will come to light.
In this release you will have:
- working usb tethering
- working camera and mirror app
- working usb mass storage mode without quirks
- working wifi and mobile data, without problems swotching from the one to the other
and some other improvments.
But it's time for the CHANGELOG:
- Spica 24bpp RC1 HP kernel
- Supercharger in /system/xbin (the file is called v6sc.sh)
- Rebased on v20e with libraries, part of the framework and apps from other releases
- Google apps updated
- Superuser and su binary updated
- Es file explorer updated
- Polaris office updated from v20j
Two words about supercharger: I followed you suggestions and I kept Juwee memory optimizer script alongside supercharger. Noobs will find good performances, and experts will be able to tweak all what they need with the supercharger script. Supercharger script will always be the last, so every other setting will be overwritten.
KNOWN ISSUES: I had a great fight with the fast dormancy issue as LG is applying it in a very strange way. When the phone awakes, FD will be disabled until a connection will activate the GSM tracker. In theory, FD should be active when no connection is active, but this is the way LG want to implement it. Not a great issue, anyway, as FD is always activated when the phone sleeps.
Another issue I noticed is the SD card sometimes is not mounted when you reboot (common to all GB leaks with custom kernels). The card becomes quickly hot, so remember to power cycle the phone and do not use apps performing reboots if possible. (Poweroff unmounts the SD card so that at next boot it will be always mounted correctly).
