Right now: We don't know. We have at least one person who bricked when wiping with the new kernel.
That's the most dangerous operation - wiping in recovery. However a large file deletion could trigger the issue. It's not likely, it hasn't happened yet, but it's a similar eMMC access pattern so it's possible.
I have just managed to produce a mother of all hard-bricks, heh.
I was bored this morning, and decided to flash CF's LPY kernel on CM9. The risk is minimal, I thought.
And it was I who kept warning people not to do it, because Entropy had said it might be dangerous.
What a colossal plonker (me, not Entropy).
Well, I flashed it using MO with no wipes (scared). The flash went well, the phone rebooted, but I kept
getting phone FC ad infinitum. So I rebooted to CWM, wiped cache and dalvik, rebooted, got past the
Samsung logo, then black.
And black.
Couldn't boot into CWM.
Tried jigging it into Download mode, nada.
Tried to boot the phone into download mode blindly, started PC Odin, plugged it into PC, nix.
Off to service centre, you idiot.
